This was the first practice that actually listened to me. They took the time to understand my history, explained everything clearly, and never rushed me. For the first time in years, I feel like someone is actually on my side with my mental health.

Patient reviews

What our patients are saying.

Dr. Saylor is thorough, patient, and genuinely cares about his patients. He doesn't just treat the symptom - he looks at the whole picture. Best primary care doctor I've had in Florida, and I've been to a lot of them.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions.

Real answers about insurance, scheduling, telehealth, and treatment. If you still have questions, we are one call away.

Can't find what you need? Call (813) 670-3005 or send us a message.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We are in-network with major commercial and government plans for psychiatric care. Primary care is in-network with Aetna, ChampVA, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage for therapy varies by plan - see /insurance/; superbills are provided for out-of-network reimbursement. The current list of accepted plans is on our insurance page. We verify your benefits before your first visit so there are no surprises.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

We offer same-day / next-day appointments at all three Florida locations. For urgent needs, call us directly at (813) 670-3005.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Our providers are licensed to deliver virtual care anywhere in the state of Florida via HIPAA-secure video. Psychiatry, therapy, and most primary-care follow-ups are available virtually. You will see the same provider you would see in the office.

What is ketamine therapy?

Ketamine therapy is a medically supervised treatment option for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and severe anxiety. Sessions are conducted under medical supervision at our Wesley Chapel clinic and typically last about two hours. Tampa-area patients looking for ketamine therapy in Tampa are treated at this same Wesley Chapel clinic, as are Polk County patients seeking ketamine therapy in Lakeland. Your provider will evaluate whether ketamine therapy is appropriate during an initial psychiatric consultation.

What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a therapist?

A psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner focuses on diagnosis, medication management, and the biological aspects of mental health. A therapist or counselor provides talk therapy - structured conversations that help you develop coping skills, process emotions, and change thought patterns. At Ascend, we offer both under one roof so your care team can collaborate directly on your treatment plan.
