Compassionate Psychiatry, Built on Trust
Anna Stouffer spent the first part of her nursing career in family medicine, where she learned something that would shape her entire approach to psychiatric care: you cannot separate the mind from the body. A patient's depression does not exist in a vacuum - it lives alongside their thyroid function, their sleep quality, their chronic pain, their relationships, and their life circumstances.
That insight led Anna to pursue dual board certification as both a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). With more than a decade of clinical experience and a Master of Science in Nursing, she brings a perspective to psychiatric medication management that most providers simply do not have - she understands the physical health picture as well as the mental health one.
At Ascend's Wesley Chapel office, Anna works with adolescents and adults navigating a wide range of psychiatric concerns, from ADHD and anxiety to bipolar disorder and treatment-resistant depression. Her approach starts with a thorough evaluation - not a 15-minute med check - and continues with regular follow-ups designed to adjust, refine, and optimize treatment over time.
Anna also provides ketamine-assisted therapy for patients who have not responded adequately to traditional medications. She was drawn to ketamine treatment because of its potential to help people who have tried everything else and are running out of hope. Every ketamine session is medically supervised and carefully integrated into the patient's broader treatment plan.
