Leading Lakeland's Therapy Team
Kaylee Mills Brenneman built her clinical career around a belief that therapy should feel collaborative, not clinical. When someone comes to her with anxiety, depression, or a family system that feels stuck, her first move is to listen - really listen - before jumping to interventions or diagnoses.
With an Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree and a Master of Education (MEd) in counseling, Kaylee brings an educational perspective to mental health care that sets her apart. She understands how learning, development, and psychological well-being intersect, which makes her especially effective with clients navigating academic pressure, parenting challenges, or transitional life stages.
As Clinical Supervisor at the Lakeland office, Kaylee does more than see her own clients. She mentors and supervises the practice's graduate interns and registered intern therapists, ensuring that every clinician on the team meets Ascend's standard of care. When you see any therapist at the Lakeland location, Kaylee is the person making sure the quality is there.
Kaylee is Comprehensively DBT Trained - meaning she has completed the full Linehan Board certification pathway, the gold standard for treating emotion dysregulation, borderline personality, and non-suicidal self-injury. This is not "DBT-informed" or "uses DBT techniques." It is the real thing.
