Telehealth primary care, answered.
Can new patients establish via telehealth?
No. The first primary care visit at Ascend is in person at the Tampa office so we can complete a full exam and baseline labs. Once you are established, follow-ups, refills, and many sick visits can be done by telehealth across Florida.
What kinds of visits can happen by telehealth?
Medication refills, chronic-condition check-ins (diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, thyroid), follow-up on lab results, mental-health coordination with our psychiatry team, and many acute sick visits when an in-person exam is not required.
What requires an in-person visit?
Annual physicals, new-patient establish visits, vaccines, on-site lab draws, in-office procedures, and any complaint that needs a hands-on exam. Our front desk will route the visit type to the right modality when you call.
Is the telehealth visit secure?
Yes. Telehealth visits use a HIPAA-secure video platform with end-to-end encryption. We do not record visits. Protected health information is handled per HIPAA.
What if my insurance does not cover telehealth?
Most major insurance plans cover telehealth at parity with in-person visits in Florida. Our medical billing team will verify your specific plan before you book.
Ready to move your follow-up to video?
Call the front desk and we will match the visit type to the right modality, in person at our Tampa office or telehealth across Florida.
