Medical Review Policy

How every piece of clinical content on ascendmb.com is reviewed, by whom, and on what cadence. Last reviewed April 14, 2026.

Who Reviews What

Content is matched to a reviewer with appropriate clinical expertise:

Review Cadence

Clinical content is formally re-reviewed at least once per year, and immediately when any of the following occur:

  • A relevant clinical guideline update (FDA label change, medical society guideline revision).
  • A reader reports a factual concern.
  • New peer-reviewed research materially changes the clinical picture.
  • A clinician on our review panel changes their assessment based on new patient experience or research.

The last reviewed date on each page is accurate and reflects the most recent clinical review, not just the last time the page was touched.

Reviewer Disclosures

Our reviewers are practicing clinicians at Ascend Mind & Body. They review content on topics they actively treat. None receive external compensation for editorial review.

YMYL and Compliance Gates

"Your Money or Your Life" content - medical advice, mental health treatment, medication information - gets additional scrutiny:

  • No efficacy guarantees. We explain what a treatment may help with, not what it will cure. Results vary.
  • No off-label marketing. Medications are described in the context of FDA-approved indications. Off-label uses are disclosed as such and supported by citation.
  • 988 disclosure appears on every page that references crisis, suicide, severe depression, or self-harm.
  • LegitScript-relevant content (ketamine, medical marijuana) gets an additional compliance review before publication and at every annual re-review.

Clinicians vs. Writers vs. AI

Any page written entirely by a clinician carries their byline as author. Pages drafted by a medical writer carry the writer’s byline plus a separate "Medically reviewed by" line for the clinical reviewer. AI-assisted drafts are reviewed and substantively rewritten by a human; AI-only content is not published.

Provider Credentials

Each reviewer’s full credentials (board certifications, educational background, licensure) are listed on their provider page. Florida license verification is available through the Florida Department of Health license lookup. NPI lookup is available through the NPPES registry.
