Editorial Policy

How Ascend Mind & Body writes, reviews, sources, and updates the content on this site. Last reviewed April 14, 2026.

Our Commitment

Ascend publishes content that real patients and their families rely on for health decisions. That comes with responsibilities. Every page on this site is either produced in-house by our clinical team, written by a medical writer and reviewed by a licensed clinician, or sourced from authoritative references with attribution. We do not publish AI-generated content without human clinical review.

Who Writes Our Content

Three groups produce the content on ascendmb.com:

  • Our clinicians - psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, and physicians on staff at Ascend. Their bylines appear on content in their area of specialty. See our provider roster.
  • Professional medical writers - contracted writers with health-content experience, supervised by one of our clinicians. Their drafts are reviewed for clinical accuracy before publication.
  • Medical reviewers - every piece of clinical content carries a named reviewer who approves medical accuracy before the page goes live, with the review date visible in the page schema.

Review Process

  1. Drafting. A clinician or medical writer produces the initial draft using peer-reviewed sources and clinical experience.
  2. Clinical review. The assigned clinical reviewer - selected based on topic expertise - reviews for factual accuracy, clinical judgment, and compliance with current guidelines.
  3. Compliance review. Ketamine, medical marijuana, and any LegitScript-relevant content get an additional compliance pass before publication. See our medical review policy for details.
  4. Legal review on content with material risk (privacy, controlled substances, off-label use).
  5. Publication with visible "Medically reviewed by [name, credentials] on [date]" stamp and matching schema.

Sourcing Standards

Clinical claims link to peer-reviewed primary sources (PubMed, NIH, NIMH, CDC, FDA) or established clinical guidelines (AMA, AHA, ACOG, APA, American Psychiatric Association). Statistics include year and source. Anecdotes are labeled as such. When we cite our own clinical experience, we say so.

Updates and Corrections

Medical knowledge changes. We review clinical content at least annually, and immediately when a significant guideline shift occurs. The "last reviewed" date on each page is the source of truth.

If you find an error, email editorial@ascendmb.com. We correct promptly, mark the page with a revision note when a material change occurs, and retain a change log internally. We do not silently revise content to avoid accountability.

Sponsored or Promotional Content

We do not publish sponsored or pay-for-placement content. Links to products or services are included only when clinically relevant and never in exchange for compensation. We disclose any commercial relationships that could create a conflict of interest.

Patient Privacy

We never publish patient stories, quotes, photos, or identifying details without a signed HIPAA-compliant release. Testimonials on this site are from patients who have specifically consented to share their experience in marketing materials. We do not use before/after imagery for ketamine therapy or other YMYL services.

AI Use Policy

We use AI tools for drafting support, outlining, and editorial research. Every AI-assisted draft is reviewed and rewritten by a human, and all clinical content passes through a licensed clinician before publication. We do not publish AI-only content, and we clearly disclose AI assistance where it materially shaped a piece.
